The solo guitarist; poet and sometimes recluse developed his distinctive picking style on the Sydney 'circuit'. Moving to New Zealand he worked and toured nationally culminating in newspaper and radio exposure. Upon his return to Australia he released his first fully independent album 'Creatures of the New Age' and was given a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Australia. An invitation to play in Ireland highlighted a successful year.
Martin's move to the Northern Rivers, to concentrate on his writing, gave him a new sense of freedom. The release of 'Inside Out' was a sensitive tapestry of the human emotion. Martin later recorded the anthem 'Sail Away' and the 4-track EP 'Begin the Journey', for promotion of the 'Volvo Around the World Yacht Race'. It showcased his versatility as a composer for any occasion.
Martin still remains one of Australia's best-kept secrets. He has played with the likes of Mark Kennedy (Renee Geyer), Jeremy Stone (David Bowie), Tim Reeves (Mungo Jerry), 'Pixie' Paul Jenkins (John Williamson) etc
Now entrenched in the intimacy of the 'North Coast Scene' he released his third and most definitive album 'No Bridges'. A more introspective CD, it still breathes of humour while searching for the mystic.
If you get the opportunity to see Martin perform live – do so, his performances are a rare treat, rich with stories of faces and places, a quiet reflection that touches all of us and makes him one of the true troubadours of our time.
